Transplanting and DIY Garden Greenhouse
|
Now that our beds are set and filled with soil it’s time to give our seedlings a home! This week at the Natural Dye garden we transplanted Indigo, Purple Basil, Marigold, Coreopsis, Weld, Blue Boy, Fennel, and Chrysanthemum. Before planting we drew grids in the soil to ensure proper spacing so our seedlings will have enough room to spread their roots and grow tall. We collected glass and plastic containers to use as “Pop Up Greenhouses.” This DIY method is great for those who want to recycle materials directly into their garden! With this protection our plants will be guarded from earlier and later frosts as well as insulating certain seedlings that need a warmer climate. Mother nature granted our garden rain which we collected in buckets and were able to use a few days later for watering. Come check out the Natural Dye garden and watch the progression of our plants as this urban plot flourishes into a meditative sanctuary. |
