SHOP: Degan Sockies

Who doesn’t need a bit of a pick-me-up on a wintry day? Enter: Lindsey Degen and her ultra soft, merino angora blend sockies.  They not only offer shelter from the cold, but their bright hues and bold stripes are the perfect foil a grey day.

Each pair is handknit in the U.S.A. using Italian spun yarn of angora and merino wool. Merino, named after the Italian beed of sheep, is the world’s most sought -after wool for its soft hand, warmth and absorbency.

Socks as an accessory? With their stripes and zigzags in contrasting hues these ones deserved to be shown off.  Pair them with your favorite Oxfords or flats to show them off and add a splash of color to your winter wardrobe.

Inheriting her passion for knitting from her grandmother, Lindsey Degen has been creating unique pieces that embody her life story and experiences since her childhood.  During Fall Fashion Week of 2011, Lindsey launched her namesake collection, DEGEN, creating beautiful, handmade garments inspired by the humor and anxiety that surrounds the body in our culture.

Equal parts fun and functional, these socks embody the quirkiness and love for the handmade that we have come to expect from one of New York’s rising design stars.

They can be purchased online or in person from the Textile Arts Center’s retail store.
