Sheila Hicks Meets Our Residents

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of a private walk-through with Sheila Hicks and our Artists in Residence of her current exhibition at Sikkema Jenkins. No need to go into how wonderful it was to hear her speak about her own work, but to have her in such a small group setting helped that much more to understand her and her own connection to fibers. On it’s last leg, the 50-Year Retrospective has gone through many shows, in various settings — now landing in NYC. The difference this time is that all the pieces up are owned by Sheila (or her children), creating a ensemble that represents how she celebrates the last five decades of art-making. If you haven’t been to the show already, do not miss out — the show is up until May 25! (Big thanks to Sarah Scaturro for arranging!)
