Sewing 101: Wiksten Pattern Comes to Life!
|
Last night, I finished up teaching my first Sewing 101 class. I decided we would begin using Jenny Gordy’s A-Line tank/dress pattern for this class, with an option to do a fully lined tote bag. The Wiksten pattern was perfect — perfectly fitting, but also super simple to create, understand, and alter. They managed to get through both a muslin sample, test the fit, and also make a finished garment in the fabric of their choice. Sorry for the phone-quality photos, but here are some of the finished products:
Want to learn to sew? Next upcoming Intro level Sewing classes are: April — Sewing 101 - Wednesdays, 6:30-9:30 – Brooklyn May — Sewing 101 – Thursdays, 6:30-9:30 – Manhattan Reclaim Your Closet – Saturdays, 3-6PM – Brooklyn Sewing 102 – Draping Techniques - Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30 – Brooklyn June – Sewing 101 – Tuesdays, 6:30-9:30 – Brooklyn |
