Product Highlights: Senegalese Pants in the W. Village
|
If you happen to be on 7th Avenue and 10th Street, look to the East side and you will find a treasure of a street stand. The owner, a Senegalese man, has been selling on 7th ave. for 20 years now and has attracted a large number of very loyal customers that keep his shop open. His products include the usual stand items, like phone chargers and other weird electronics, and also, most excitingly, hand made pants and shirts. It is by far the most visually captivating store in the neighborhood: the entire structure is covered in beautiful patterns, bright colors that you must sift through in order to find the right style and size. This is the owner. Note my father in the back getting very excited and calling all his friends… They look really great together. The pattern is very simple and the beauty is really in the fabrics. They are elastic and drawstring and fit rather baggy, but I think that is a good look for fall. They are made of light cotton, that will wear really nicely. I bought the green pair with the orange and yellow medallions. They are really comfortable and I haven’t taken them off since I bought them. Luckily for me, the store is one block from our new location on W 8th Street. I can walk there on my lunch break!
