Resourceful: Necklaces From Book Covers

Recycling is so in. It is astonishing when you realize you can create nearly anything out of something else. There just seems to be something so freeing about forgetting what you don’t have and utilizing what you do have.

Located in the Netherlands, artist and designer Carolina Apolonia creates hand sewn objects turned necklaces from her medium of choice: old book covers. She also uses leather, silk, and paint to create these works of wearable art. On her website, Apolonia confides the appeal with this specific medium is simply that “old books carry stories: the stories themselves and the tales of the people that read them.”
