How lucky are we at Sewing Seeds to have the sponsorship of Build it Green! NYC! Last weekend we picked up the recycled scaffolding used to build the garden beds, turning some lumber past its prime to a new use. BIG! NYC resells salvaged and surplus building materials in Astoria and Gowanus, reducing tons of waste and supporting environmental initiatives throughout the city.

We’ve been hard at work, and have finished building our 10 raised beds from this scaffolding. Stop by this Saturday to help us with the next steps: weed barrier, garden layout, and sowing native plants in the meadow area!
