Marbling Madness

This weekend Ilana Kohn will be joining us for an intensive marbling class at our Manhattan location, and I just wanted to express my great excitement for the process, though I have limited experience with it. Marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, that creates a unique pattern reminiscent of the natural look of marble and some stones. It is thought to have been first used in China, in the Sichuan Region, around 986 CE. The class in currently Class of the Week. Check it out.

These are some of Ilana’s beautiful marbled silk hankies…

Lina Rinnell does marbling..

Here are some awesome images from Ilana’s marbling party she hosted at her apartment.

Marbling isn’t strictly for the 2-dimensional artist… It can also be applied to finger nails. I wish I was capable of growing my nails… I would love to wear some swirls on my hands.
