Let’s Get Sculptural

Crochet might be one of my favorite textile techniques. So close to my heart, that I’m sure I I shared this love with you so many times. Not too many though, not enough!

Each time I start a new project, even if I spend a long time away from my needles, I get this comforting feeling, that you only get when playing with a technique that you truly understand (and that understands you).

If I could define crochet in one word I’d use Freedom, because I really think that’s what it is about. Freedom to start with something bi-dimensional like this…

Louise Bourgeois, Crochet IV

… and like play-dough, move towards creating something more like this:

Miyoshi Barosh

Alexandra Bircken

Toshiko Horiuchi Macadam

Who said sculpture needs to involve wood, stone or clay? Come get hooked on this amazing technique in our Sculptural Crochet class starting tomorrow. Newbies and master crocheters welcome. It’s time to get free.
