Allison Watkins: ClothCloth
|
I first fell in love with California-artist Allison Watkins through her beautiful, delicate embroidery pieces. Now, she has been off on new projects, exploring the closet in a new way. Through her clothing line Cloth < Paper < Cloth, she allows emerging textile artists to participate in producing one of a kind editions of wearable garments. It’s precisely this kind of project the fashion world is in need of. If you are a textile designer and want to be involved, please be sure to contact Allison! “Cloth < Paper > Cloth is a small, limited edition clothing line that features artist designed and vintage textiles. The artists featured in the collection are both emerging and established, with International reputations. Next to each garment you will find the artists name, a link to their work, and the edition number. All pieces are made by hand in a small studio in Napa, California. Our philosophy, made possible with advancement in digital printing techniques, is based on the idea that beautifully designed and high- quality clothing made in the United States can be affordable, and ultimately be an alternative to the disposable culture of the greater fashion industry.” |
